Initium-Pharm (Russia) has developed and proposed a new oral product: Vitaterpene CardioOrganic® Omega-3, based on Abisil terpenoid substance. It is a dietary supplement containing Siberian fir terpenes in a form of 5% oily solution in capsules for oral administration. It also contains phytogenic PUFAs and α-tocopherol. The product has a new range of pharmacological effects and provides new opportunities for managing pathogenic processes, particularly, atherosclerosis and metabolic syndrome.
Vitaterpene CardioOrganic® Omega-3 is a balanced complex of bioactive substances comprising natural Pinaceae family terpenes, limonene, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), and α-tocopherol (vitamin E). It is recommended to use in the field of preventive medicine as an anti-atherosclerotic agent for cardiovascular diseases prophylaxis and treatment. The product helps to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease development and to manage carbohydrate and lipid metabolism disorders in cases of metabolic syndrome. It decreases blood levels of total lipids, cholesterol and glucose. Experimental studies demonstrated that administration of the balanced complex containing terpenes and phytogenic PUFAs produces anti-atherosclerotic effect, decreases level of triglycerides and low density lipoproteins (LDL), has choleretic effect, stimulates bile excretion of cholesterol and bile acids, decreases severity of aortic intima lesions and atherocalcinosis thereof, and prevents myocardial infraction development. Limonene is a hydrocarbon derivative of the group of monocyclic terpenes. It is contained in essential oils of coniferous trees. It has a pronounced pine smell.
Flax-seed oil contains vegetable Omega-3 PUFA, including α-linoleic acid, which plays an important role in metabolic processes. It helps to regulate fat and protein metabolism, to prevent the accumulation of cholesterol in the blood vessels and the formation of blood clots.
Omega-3 is a group of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA), which helps to protect cell membranes from destruction.
